North Dakota population mapAccording to the most recent US Census data, North Dakota’s population has increased by 30,400 people. Factoring in to the population increase are job growth, a robust North Dakota economy, and the western oil boom.

The population of North Dakota has fluctuated greatly over the past century, with booms coming in the early 20th century and sharp declines after the 1930s.

North Dakota remains the third least populous state in the country, but with this new population increase, seats will be redistricted for the Legislature, affecting representation starting in 2013.
