Leadership and management here in North Dakota are on a fast learning curve. Things are going very well in our state and we are adjusting our organizations to take advantage. Positive change is happening.

Now, reach into your pocket and pull the coins out and add them up. Nice haul; nickel, dime and quarter spill out and add up to 40 cents; we consider that to be easy change. But most change is more difficult than that. Change takes ideas and it is only through ideas that change changes. Yes, change creates innovation, and one idea usually brings another until this “idea cluster” arranges everything into process and logical thought. Idea incubation and release

We need to remember that idea finding leads to solution finding, and as we all know, solutions bring results and success. Specific concrete action will promote the change that benefits the organization. Leadership and vision need to be communicated. It is important in the people side of the business. It is the people side of the business that is integral to the Dale Carnegie Training Principles.

How fluent are you in creating and making quality ideas? Idea fluency is essential to growth. We become fluent through the following three drivers as we create opportunity through idea incubation:

  • Vision: Seeing a great idea and remembering it is just the beginning.
  • Mission: The idea must be defined and thought out into words that motivate others to action.
  • Values: The sharing of both vision and mission will bring standards of excellence into play that puts everyone on the same page; beliefs and values are at the heart of idea generation and incubation.

The more leaders and managers who are contributing ideas incubate opportunity that grow and truly stretch the talents of everyone who are sharing both invention and imagination.

Ideas move organizations. Ideas promote change. Idea generation and leadership excellence go hand-in-hand.
